The 2025/26 season has been another remarkable year for the 5 Valleys Valkyries, with participation continuing to grow across all age groups.
Girls aged 11–16 have enjoyed regular game time, developed their skills, and represented the club with pride throughout the season. The continued growth of the girls' section is a testament to the dedication of coaches, volunteers, parents, and the players themselves.
One of the season's highlights was the club's second consecutive tour to the Woody's 7s Festival in Leicestershire. Fielding both Under-12 and Under-14 teams, the Valkyries competed against teams from across the UK and enjoyed an unforgettable weekend of rugby, team spirit, and friendship.
The Under-12 squad achieved a fantastic result by winning the Plate Trophy, creating memories that will last a lifetime both on and off the pitch.
Girls' Rugby Continues to Thrive
The future looks exceptionally bright for the Valkyries.
For the first time, the club will enter the Gloucestershire Rugby Football Union League at Under-14 level, with player numbers exceeding 20. This milestone reflects the growing popularity of girls' rugby and the hard work invested in creating a welcoming and supportive environment for young players.
The Under-12 section is also thriving, with strong player numbers already in place ahead of the new season. Just two years ago, the squad began the season with only six players. Today, participation has more than doubled, demonstrating the increasing demand for opportunities for girls to play rugby.
At Under-16 level, the Valkyries continue to strengthen relationships with neighbouring clubs to ensure players enjoy regular competitive rugby and continued development opportunities.
